Brownsville, TexasIntroduction to Brownsville, Texas
The city of Brownsville, located directly on the Mexican border, is Texas' southernmost city. An international bridge connects the city to Matamoros, Mexico. Brownsville is the county seat of Cameron County and is the major manufacturing center of the Rio Grande Valley. The city is serviced by U.S. Routes 77, 83, and 281; and has its own general aviation airport, the Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport. When Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1835, it claimed the Rio Grande River as its western boundary. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, ending Texas' war of independence, confirmed the area where Brownsville now stands as being American territory. In 1848 the city of Brownsville was founded and named after Major Jacob Brown, a war hero. Incorporated as a city in 1853, Brownsville played a prominent role in the Civil War as a major port for the exporting of cotton and other goods by the Confederate States of America. After the war, a period of reconstruction ensued and by the early 1900s, the city was enjoying prosperity and experiencing a surge in population. The city today stands as one of the fastest growing manufacturing regions in the United States and an important center for technology, industry and distribution.

Do you have a problem with drug or alcohol addiction and live in Brownsville, Texas? Are you concerned about a family member in Brownsville, who has a problem like this? Whatever your situation it's easy to believe that you're alone with this . . . that, somehow, you have to solve the problem all on your own. That is not the case. We care about you - and will help you find a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Treatment Center in Brownsville, suited to your specific treatment needs. You don't have to deal with drug addiction or alcoholism on your own!
A Drug Rehab or Alcohol Treatment Facility in Brownsville, is a good option for the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism. The goal of a Drug Rehabilitation or Alcohol Rehab Program in Brownsville, TX. is to direct the initial treatment plan toward the ability of the individual to stop using drugs and/or alcohol and hence avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that are usually associated with drug addiction and alcoholism.
There are many different addiction treatment approaches such as Long-term Addiction Treatment Programs, Outpatient Drug Rehab Centers, Short-term Drug Rehab Centers, Inpatient Addiction Treatment Facilities, support group meetings, drug counseling, halfway houses and sober living.
Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers in Brownsville, typically focus on the two-fold nature of drug addiction and alcoholism: physical and psychological addiction. Physical addiction can be treated by a detoxification program in Brownsville, Texas with treatment procedure to assist with the painful withdrawal symptoms which manifest themselves when a person discontinues the consumption of a drug or drugs that they are addicted to. With habitual use of a psychoactive substance the brain gradually adapts to the presence of the drug so the desired effect becomes minimal. This is how physical tolerance develops to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine and alcohol to name a few. It also explains why more and more of the drug is needed to get the same effect with habitual use of an addictive drug. The abrupt cessation of an addictive drug can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months (depending on the drug involved) to return to normal function. The withdrawal symptoms from certain substances, such as heroin, can induce severe and painful withdrawal symptoms, and be quite prolonged.
An Alcohol Treatment or Drug Rehab Program in Brownsville, will not only provide the person with a professional detox but also provide an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Facility for the psychological issues inevitably underlying all drug and alcohol addiction problems, so as to decrease the chances of relapse and increase the chances of a clean and sober life.
An Alcohol Rehab or Drug Treatment Facility in Brownsville, TX. is more likely to be one of the most successful methods for treating an individual with a severe drug addiction problem. Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facilities in Brownsville, are designed to deliver a comprehensive treatment curriculum and assist a person in every facet of their life 24 hours a day.
For a person to make a successful recovery, they must acquire new knowledge, abilities and 'life skills'. This new knowledge, abilities and life skills must be directed toward strategies for returning home to Brownsville, from a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Facility and encountering old drug using acquaintances in Brownsville - as well as ways to handle the many reminders and triggers of their past drug using days in Brownsville. These triggers can produce memories which can produce psychological stressors. These psychological stressors often hinder the recovering addict, making it very difficult for them to feel as though they have control over their actions concerning drug using impulses. This is because research into the brain of addicts shows changes in the way their brain functions long after they have discontinued using drugs and/or alcohol. This is the main reason why even an individual with will power as strong as steel may find it extremely difficult to overcome drug addiction or alcoholism without professional addiction treatment. With so many obstacles such as triggers, drug cravings, and changes in the way their brain functions due to habitual drug use, it is no surprise why so many people attend an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Program each year to successfully recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
There are many reasons why a person should enroll into an Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Facility in Brownsville. A few of the many reasons are: the inability to control or eliminate their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, legal problems, severe depression and general unhappiness due to excessive drug or alcohol use.

Did You Know? ... Interesting Facts and Statistics:
In 2008, 18.3 million persons aged 12 or older were classified with dependence on or abuse of alcohol. This represents 7.3 percent of the population. The number and percentage have remained similar since 2002.
Rates of substance dependence or abuse were associated with current employment status in 2006. A higher percentage of unemployed adults aged 18 or older were classified with dependence or abuse (19.5 percent) than were full time employed adults (10.4 percent) or part time employed adults (10.2 percent).
The overall rate of current illegal drug use remained stable from 2007 to 2008 among teens aged 12 to 17, as did the rates for most specific drugs, except for hallucinogens and the nonmedical use of psychotherapeutics. An increase was seen in the rate of past month hallucinogen use, which went from 0.7 percent in 2007 to 1.0 percent in 2008, driven in part by an increase in Ecstasy use from 0.3 to 0.4 percent. However, the rate of nonmedical use of prescription psychotherapeutic drugs among teens declined from 3.3 percent in 2007 to 2.9 percent in 2008, driven largely by a decrease in the misuse of pain relievers from 2.7 to 2.3 percent.
The number of past year initiates of methamphetamine among persons aged 12 or older was 157,000 in 2007. This estimate was significantly lower than the estimate in 2002 (299,000), 2003 (260,000), 2004 (318,000), and 2006 (259,000).
According to a 2006 survey, there were 2.4 million current Opiate users aged 12 or older, which was the same as in 2005 but greater than in 2002 when the number was 2.0 million.
Among 12 to 17 year olds who had past year MDE in 2007, 35.5 percent had used illegal drugs during the same period. This was higher than the rate of 17.2 percent among teens who did not have past year MDE. Similarly, the rates of past month daily cigarette use and heavy alcohol use were higher for teens with MDE (4.8 and 3.8 percent, respectively) than for teens who did not have MDE (2.3 and 2.2 percent, respectively).
