Methadone is known for its calming effect that relieves feelings of anxiety and replaces this nervousness with feelings of warmth, relaxation and detachment.

In 2008, adults aged 26 or older were less likely to be current drug users than teens aged 12 to 17 or young adults aged 18 to 25 (5.9 vs. 9.3 and 19.6 percent, respectively). Among heavy alcohol users aged 12 or older, 58.3 percent smoked cigarettes in the past month, while only 20.4 percent of non-binge current drinkers and 17.2 percent of persons who did not drink alcohol in the past month were current smokers. Smokeless tobacco use and cigar use also were more prevalent among heavy drinkers (11.4 and 18.7 percent, respectively) than among non-binge drinkers (2.1 and 4.6 percent) and nondrinkers (2.2 and 2.1 percent).

Dr. Steven Juergens of Virginia Mason University was the first person to write about Xanax, in relation to the premise of the drug being highly addictive.

Often, an individual will begin taking Dilaudid for a legitimate ailment, go to their doctor and receive a prescription for the potent drug. As time passes they build a tolerance to the drug and have to take more and more; they then become dependent on the Dilaudid, even when they no longer need it for pain. This dependency is often what leads many down the treacherous path to Dilaudid addiction.
