Crack cocaine is made by dissolving powdered cocaine in a mixture of water and ammonia or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). The mixture is boiled until a solid substance forms. It is removed from the liquid, dried, and then broken into the chunks (rocks) that are sold as crack cocaine.
Among teens aged 12 to 17 in 2006, 3.3 million (12.9 percent) used a tobacco product in the past month, and 2.6 million (10.4 percent) used cigarettes. The rate of past month cigarette use among 12 to 17 year olds declined from 13.0 percent in 2002 to 10.4 percent in 2006.
