Illegal drug use also was associated with the level of alcohol use. Among teens who were heavy drinkers in 2001, 65.3 percent also were current illegal drug users, whereas among nondrinkers, the rate was only 5.1 percent.
Among full time college students aged 18 to 22, there were increases from 2007 to 2008 in the current rate of use of hallucinogens (from 1.0 to 2.1 percent).
