The ultimate goal of all Alcohol Rehab or Drug Rehabilitation Centers should be to enable the individual from Northborough, Massachusetts to achieve lasting abstinence. Much research has indicated that in order for drug and alcohol addiction treatment to be effective, it must teach the individual how to change to their compulsive behaviors in order to remove the addiction and to be able to avoid a possible relapse. It is very common to see individuals from Northborough, MA. in drug detox that has combined different drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, or pain pills with alcohol.

When an individual from Northborough has sustained the use of any of these various kinds of drugs, it causes adaptations within their body that lessen the drug's original effects over time; this is a phenomenon that is known as drug tolerance. At this point, the individual from Northborough, Massachusetts has developed a physical dependency on the substance and withdrawal symptoms will be experienced upon discontinuation. The reason that it is imperative that an individual from Northborough have professional supervision during the detox process is because the staff at an Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Center can help to make this process much easier by administering elements of treatment that can help to alleviate some of the painful withdrawal symptoms.

Once the early stages of withdrawal have passed, an individual from Northborough will then be able to begin a directed, Drug Treatment or Alcohol Rehab Center that will begin to address aspects of the psychological dependency by teaching behavioral skills that will help them to function without the use of alcohol or drugs. This component in drug recovery treatment will usually involve some type of individual or group counseling. There may also be occupational and behavioral therapies that are utilized as components of treatment in order to help to teach the individual from Northborough, MA. life and social skills that may have been lost while they were under the influence of addiction.

Before an addict is finally willing to surrender to the Alcohol Rehabilitation or Drug Rehab Program process, they may have already made repeated promises to their loved ones in Northborough who have been experiencing the negative effects from the individual's drug or alcohol abuse; because of the way that these substances chemically alter the person's brain, these empty promises cannot be fulfilled. If loved ones in Northborough, Massachusetts continue to believe these empty promises, it could possible mean that the addicted person will then have time to overdose on drugs or have a serious car accident while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

In a Drug Rehab or Alcohol Rehabilitation Program, the individual from Northborough will become educated about the ways that drugs and alcohol affect the various functions of the brain; they will learn that it was these physiological changes that made it almost impossible for them to stop using on their own, and not personal integrity. As an individual from Northborough, MA. learns more about how to deal with drug triggers and as they master to the tools that they will need to use in order to stay sober when they return home to Northborough, they will become confident in their ability to do so.

Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Marijuana smokers have many of the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers, such as daily cough and phlegm production, more frequent acute chest illness, and a heightened risk of lung infections.

Studies of the brain show that Ecstasy affects serotonin, a system which plays a direct role in controlling our mood, aggression, sexual activity, sleep, and sensitivity to pain.

Drug addiction encompasses a widely diverse range of various drugs such as alcohol, heroin, marijuana, amphetamines, and cocaine and is commonly caused by a wide array of many different factors.

As with other amphetamines, tolerance to methamphetamine is not completely understood, but known to be sufficiently complex that it cannot be explained by any single mechanism. The extent of tolerance and the rate at which it develops varies widely between individuals, and even within one person it is highly dependent on dosage, duration of use and frequency of administration. Many cases of narcolepsy were treated with methamphetamine for years without escalating doses or any apparent loss of effect.

Among unemployed adults aged 18 or older in 2007, 18.3 percent were current illegal drug users, which was higher than the 8.4 percent of those employed full time and 10.1 percent of those employed part time. However, most illegal drug users were employed. Of the 17.4 million current illegal drug users aged 18 or older in 2007, 13.1 million (75.3 percent) were employed either full or part time.

In 2008, there were 1.2 million teens (5.0 percent) aged 12 to 17 who needed treatment for an alcohol use problem. Of this group, only 77,000 received treatment at a specialty facility (0.3 percent of all teens and 6.2 percent of teens who needed treatment), leaving almost 1.2 million teens who needed but did not receive treatment.
