Did You Know? ...
Interesting Facts and Statistics:

Drug addiction encompasses a widely diverse range of various drugs such as alcohol, heroin, marijuana, amphetamines, and cocaine and is commonly caused by a wide array of many different factors.

Ambien is liberally prescribed by doctors to treat insomnia. The immediate-release form of zolpidem is Ambien, and the extended-release form of zolpidem is Ambien CR. Ambien CR has a first layer that dissolves quickly to help you fall asleep sooner, and a second layer that dissolves slowly to help you stay asleep longer.

In 2006, current cigarette smoking was more common among unemployed adults aged 18 or older than among adults who were working full time or part time (47.8 vs. 28.8 and 25.4 percent, respectively). Cigar smoking followed a similar pattern, with 11.3 percent of unemployed adults reporting past month use compared with 6.8 percent of full time workers and 5.6 percent of part time workers.

The rate of illegal drug use in the past year was higher among teens aged 12 to 17 who received mental health treatment or counseling in the past year than among those who did not receive treatment or counseling (28.8 vs. 17.0 percent, respectively). This pattern also was observed for marijuana, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants, and the nonmedical use of prescription type psychotherapeutics.

Individuals who have a substance abuse problem have a tendency to look at those around them to measure how right or wrong their actions are. Addicts are greatly in need of objective feedback concerning their behavior. It is through a non-judgmental, non-critical, intervention process that the individual is able to see the negative effects of their own lifestyle choices. When they truly begin to understand the impact that their addiction has on others, they can finally truly begin to see that they are hurting those around them.

Among teens aged 12 or 13, the rate of past month illegal drug use increased from 3.0 percent in 2000 to 3.8 percent in 2001, which was similar to the rate observed in 1999 (3.9 percent).
